Which events are in the Speed gallery?

The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix night race, and the Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park in 2025 and 2026, including the Ferrari F80, Ferrari Amalfi and Audi RS 5 displays. There are also classics and customs from show-and-shine meets.

What shutter speed freezes a Formula 1 car?

In daylight at Albert Park, the RX10 IV's electronic shutter ran at 1/32000 s. At night in Las Vegas there was far less light, so 1/800 s at ISO 3200 was the working setting.

Can you photograph Formula 1 with a bridge camera?

Yes. Every photo here is from a Sony RX10 IV, and its 600 mm equivalent reach works from a grandstand seat. Its one weakness is noise at high ISO, which shows at night races. More in the Las Vegas post.

Where did you shoot from at Albert Park?

From the Oscar Piastri Grandstand, level with starting grid positions 3 and 4.
